Tree / a space without borders
A space without borders, an indefinite space, it's not a space in which we are alone, it is also not a space in which we loose our right to privacy, instead, it is a space where we meet outside of predefined spaces, pre-assigned seats or predetermined citizen statuses. There, for a moment, in This moment, before we start differencing ourselves from another again, we meet as equals, constrained only by our bodies, by the gravity of the constantly moving objects, in the constantly expanding universe.
'Tree / a space without borders' premiered in August 2014 at 'Heitere Fahne' in Wabern by Bern. It was part of the evening 'Utopia of the present – Variations' by the Bern Retour Kollektiv.

'Music', says Toshio Hosokawa, 'is the place where notes and silence meet'. He works with 'Ma' which, in Japanese, literally means space or interstice – referring to the period of waiting before a note or a coherent group of notes is sounded. The profound hush of this space – silence – goes with the profound sounds. Together they form the fabric of the cosmos, the fabric of nature, which represent the cosmological structure of relationships in which humanity and nature exist.
